As 2014 draws to a close, we bring in the new year but with glamour and style of course.

If you've been on a plane then it's more than likely you have at least once stepped off, looked in the mirror, and questioned what in the world happened to your beautiful makeup look.

 

Something about the altitude and being that high up in the sky messes with your skin and it happens to me every single time. My skin, forehead specifically, becomes extremely dry therefore cracking my foundation. The lipstick sinks into my lips as they become dry also and it's just not fun having to re-do your makeup in an airport bathroom with people looking at you like you're crazy. However, there are products you can use to decrease these effects as well as little travel hacks that will make your holiday or work trip so much easier.

WHICH FOUNDATION APPLICATOR IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

 

What you might not realise is just how important it is to use the right applicator for you. Based on your skin and the foundation you're using, some methods of application are better than others. The type of foundation is a huge factor in your decision. FESTIVE LIP COLOURS

This post is a combination of holiday lip colours, festive reds, favourite seasonal MAC shades and my top two Dior picks for this Christmas. Perhaps you could use this post to decide on a lip colour for tomorrow which is Christmas Day of course!

 

For lip product junkie such as myself, choosing the perfect colour to wear on Christmas day and around the season is a topic on my mind each year. Red often seems like the go-to and of course that's a fantastic option so I have three of my favourite seasonal reds to discuss. However, I thought that I would also mix things up a bit by bringing a few berry and pink options into the mix with three other festive shades to share. Let's get into it.

If there's ever been a more appropriate time to dust off your boldest red lipstick then the holiday season and Christmas time is definitely it.

5 FESTIVE NAIL POLISH COLOURS

 

I have always been one to go all out for Christmas; from holiday themed candles to festive red lipsticks and nails are no exception. In this post I am sharing with you five festive colours to get your nails Christmas ready.

I'll be the first one to admit I'm an OPI junkie so it's unsurprising that four out of the five nail polishes in this post are shades from the brand. Also to the same ratio, most have a sparkle. You can't have Christmas without a little shimmer.

SPLURGE OR SAVE: MAC IM-PASSIONED DUPE

I love a good MAC lipstick but something I love just as much is a drugstore dupe. Why spend $36 when you can spend a maximum of $16.95, but generally much cheaper as Maybelline often have sales.

I adore MAC Im-Passioned, so much so that I'm actually planning to wear it to a fashion event that I'm attending tonight. The main reason being that it is the perfect sophisticated evening colour but it has a playful edge due to it's bright cherry and pink undertones that aren't typical in a classic red. So when I came across this incredible dupe I knew I just had to share my find with you all!

This may be kind of odd but I thought it would be a different take on a holiday gift guide to talk about the beauty items on my personal wishlist rather than recommending products I’ve already tried.

NARS POWDER FOUNDATION REVIEW

As a powder foundation junkie, I have swapped favourites many times which you would know if you have been following my blog for a few years. Initially I was obsessed with MAC Studio Fix but then I found a drugstore dupe, the Australis Fresh and Flawless. Now I have moved on to the NARS Powder Foundation and am not looking back. I have given this powder a go for over a month now so can now share my long-term thoughts with you all.

NARS is one of those brands that I can never just walk by at Mecca Maxima, I must stop and admire it's beauty. Their packaging, colours and consistencies are always on point so although I'm usually nervous to try out foundation products from high end brands, I didn't hesitate to pick this up. Now let's get into examining this powder foundation.

3 LUSH HOLIDAY PICKS

After purchasing nearly the entire Christmas range Lush have to offer this year, I have carefully selected my favourite; bubble bar, bath melt and bath bomb. Let's just say, I definitely have my baths sorted all holiday season thanks to Lush.

The small things like bath products such as these are what really get me in the Christmas mood. Especially when you have a bit of time on your hands since you're probably having a break from work or Uni, it's so relaxing to lay in a warm tub enjoying a bath melt, bomb or bar.

Granted that beforehand you were able to purchase NARS from Mecca, they don't stock this particular product. I am a huge nail polish fanatic and am particularly in love with summer nail shades so I thought what better way to bring in the new season than with my favourite lacquers to paint on my fingers, and there's no denying that I definitely have a many favourites. Just because these are my Summer favourites is not to say that these particular colours aren't appropriate to wear any other time but moreso highlighting how perfect they are for the warmer weather and how I picture them against a tan, on a summer holiday or at the beach.
