Maybelline The Rock Nudes Palette - REVIEW AND SWATCHES

I love a buttery and pigmented eyeshadow as much as the next girl and something I have noticed is that you only have the venture into the drugstore to find some.

When I was younger and newer to makeup I had the perception that you had to spend a fortune on high end shadows if you wanted quality. But the more I have experimented with both luxury and affordable brands, it has become clear to me that you just need to do your research and you can snag quality on a budget.

One of the standout brands for quality on a budget is Maybelline! In particular, the palettes that they have been releasing of the last couple of years have been groundbreaking quality for the price.

When I speak in terms of quality, I talk not just about the formulation and colour payoff but also the selection of shades! High end brands do a great job at identifying shifts in the market and quickly pushing products out there that align with these trends.

Maybelline have been doing a fab job in creating palettes packed with on trend colours. Better yet, they aren't doing it the safe way by filling palettes full of light shimmery golds and matte browns because nudes are always hit. They are taking risks and including that silver sparkle midnight black, a vibrant punch of plum, a deep mossy green and an intense shimmery taupe blue.

It's these daring shades that present the customer with a unique colour offering, something often reserved for high end palettes. Just take a look for yourself in these close ups
So now onto the formulation of the shadows because it's all well and good to have a palette full of gorgeous colours but if they don't translate well onto the skin then... it's a waste of a well thought out palette.

This is also very often where a drugstore palette goes wrong...it disappoints on delivery.

So I'm pleased to say that the smooth formulation means the colours glide onto the lid but it's not so buttery that it creases...a major win.

If you take a look below, you will see that the pigmentation is probably almost an 8/10. They are pigmented yet wearable and translate well on the skin.

So the verdict? The Maybelline Rock Nudes Palette is a sure fire winner for a fun new palette that won't break the bank.

You are sure to be able to create a series of unique and versatile eye looks with a quality that will see your look lasting...but a setting spray will also help prolong the wear.

I bought mine in LA for about $12USD but I'm almost certain it is now available in Australia. This palette retails for $25.95 AUD and is available from stores like Priceline, Kmart and Target.

What are you waiting for? Get your hands on this and try it out next time you're hitting the down with the girls.
