When I think Autumn/Winter products, a lipstick that immediately comes to mind is the iconic MAC Rebel.
It's the vampy purple toned burgundy that I reviewed here but is it necessary to drop a small fortune on this $36 lipstick? Well that is what you are here to find out.
When Mary Kay released their most recent collection (you can read about it here) I immediately noticed the resemblance between one of the lipsticks and MAC Rebel. I didn't look much further into it but it wasn't until recently when I started wearing the Mary Kay one, which is in the shade Berry A La Mode, that I decided to get them side by side and compare swatches. What do you know? They're pretty much identical!
Surprisingly Mary Kay Berry A La Mode looks darker in the tube than Rebel however when swatched Rebel is the one that is slightly darker. They both have the same smooth consistency and glossy finish and definitely achieve the whole vampy deep burgundy look.
While MAC lipsticks retail for $36, you are able to get your hands on the Mary Kay ones for $28. Sure it's not the absolute cheapest lipstick you could find but it is definitely a quality product from a great company and a saving is still a saving.
So if you're looking to splurge then go with MAC Rebel for $36 available at David Jones and Myer but if you are wanting to save then Mary Kay Berry A La Mode is a fantastic option for $28 and can be purchased online or from company representatives.
I hope you have enjoyed finding out more about this dupe for the cult classic Rebel lipstick, just in time for the cooler seasons. If you have a specific request for a MAC dupe you would like to see next then feel free to shoot me an email at email@example.com
