MY TIPS FOR A PHOTOGENIC SMILE {CONTRIBUTED POST}

With social media being so prevalent in our lives, our photos are shared and seen all the time. The thing with the internet is that they will always be there.

So we want to look good in our photos, right? We’ve all switched on our camera phone and turned on the selfie camera. The double chin look is not a good look! So how can we make sure that we look good in photographs? One thing to perfect is our smile. If we can have an award winning smile, it will make such a difference to the photo. Here are a few tips to help you have a photogenic smile.

One of the best ways is to be as natural as you can. If you smile gently, your mouth opens slightly and it is a great natural look. Unless you are genuinely laughing at something, you don’t want to force a big wide grin. A big forced smile will cause you to squint a little. It will also make your muscles tense, particularly in your neck. Not a good look for photographs.

My second piece of advice would be to wear lipstick. Choosing a shade that suits you is so important. Your smile looks instantly better if the lip colour is one that compliments your skin. Shades with pink-undertones will help to hide the yellow stains in your teeth too. If you choose a colour that is rather too dark for you, it can draw attention to your lips in photographs. If you are doing this, you need to make sure that your smile is on point as that is where people will be looking.

If you don’t like showing your teeth, you could learn to perfect a closed mouth smile. You want it to make you look like you’re smiling, rather than pouting. If it is a happy thing, you don’t want to look like you’re not enjoying yourself. A solution to loving your teeth when you smile is that you could consider dental treatment. Invisalign are invisible braces. So they work to straighten your teeth, without taking you back to the high school braces days. A lot of adults use them these days.

A regular dental routine is a must for good teeth, though. You should visit your dentist every six months as a rule. If you have problems, then you should visit as and when they arrive. Brushing your teeth twice a day, as well as flossing will help. Mouthwash is a great product to use too. Your smile will look so much better if your teeth aren’t stained and your gums aren’t swollen.

The final tip is to think about how you are holding yourself. If you slouch, it can affect how your smile looks. If you hunch over forward, it can affect how you look too. The best tip is to turn your head slightly so that your face isn’t head on with the camera. Dropping your chin slightly is a good option to make you look your best too.
