Back To Beauty Basics: Is Your Beauty Routine Only Skin Deep?

When it comes to any kind of beauty regime, it's all too common for people to assume that it entirely comes down to the makeup that you wear.

And that's a pretty fair assumption a lot of the time. After all, a well-applied layer of makeup can practically transform you from someone who's only just crawled out of bed into someone who's ready to take on just about anything the day can throw at you.

Or perhaps you want to go from your professional look to something a little more fun and feisty for a night on the tiles! However, there's one important thing to remember: if you want any look to really pop, then you've got to make sure that you've got the right foundation. No, not that foundation! I'm talking about the real basics that impact the way that you look, to begin with. If your skin is the canvas that you use to create the looks that you want, then don't you want that canvas to be as clean as possible? Exactly. With that in mind, here are a few things that you can do in order to make sure that your beauty routine goes a little bit further than skin deep.

Diet
Most people assume that your beauty routine is exclusively based around what you to onto your skin. And sure, that's probably the most significant part of it. But there's something incredibly important that you need to deal with first, and that's what's going on underneath. Your diet impacts a lot of things about the way that you look and your skin is no exception to this rule. The two most common ways that diet can have a negative impact on your skin are excess oil and dehydration. If you're constantly eating greasy processed food, and red meat especially, then that's going to show through on your skin by making you look greasy and unwashed. Similarly, far too many of us are incredibly dehydrated on day to day basis. This is not only because you're not drinking enough water, but it's also because people are eating junk food rather than fruits and vegetables which contain a lot more water. Of course, it should go without saying just how much of an impact things like cigarettes and alcohol can have on the way that your skin looks. In fact, you may want to try something like a detox tea. Not only can they improve the quality of your skin but can also help to rid you of toxins and even lose weight! If you check out Detox Tea Guide, they have what they call "Our Ranking And Reviews Of The Best Detox Teas For 2017!" There's a great selection on there for you to choose from. By thinking more carefully about what you're putting inside your body, the way that you look on the outside is going to benefit hugely!

Skincare
Skincare is something that most people consider to be pretty important, and yet, they still aren't necessarily putting in the right amount of effort into it. Sure, keeping your skin clean and moisturised is great, but there are plenty of things that you can do on top of that in order to make it even better. A lot of anti-ageing creams can be incredibly useful for this and finding the right moisturisers and exfoliants can make a huge difference. There are a lot of different products on the market, and it's important to find the one that's right for you. After all, if you're going to be putting things on top of your skin, then you're going to want to make sure that the canvas you're using is as perfect as possible, to begin with.

Sleep

adult, attractive, beautiful

Sleep is one of those things that most of us simply aren't getting enough of. After all, between work, family time, and a social life, it can often feel as though there aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done and still get a decent night's sleep. However, if you're not sleeping properly, then that's almost certainly going to start to show on your face. The last thing you want is to be walking around with huge bags under your eyes all day long. Being well-rested not only makes you feel better but it can also help to make you look much better as well. Your skill will be clearer, and you'll have to spend a whole lot less time covering things up with makeup that way.

Makeup free days
Speaking of makeup, it really can be wonderful. There are so many different ways to create unique styles, express yourself, and build up your confidence. There's no reason for you to get rid of your make up supplies anytime soon. However, it might be a good idea to go without it for a couple of days each week. This is important for two reasons. One, if you're covering your face in makeup every day, then you're not really giving your skin the chance to breathe, which can lead to clogged pores and bigger problems down the line. And the other reason is that it can start to have a negative impact on how you see yourself. Sure, makeup can be great, but if you start to feel as though you can't leave the house without it on, then that becomes a pretty serious issue. By going makeup free from time to time, you can remind yourself that you're still beautiful without it and you only need to use it when you want to, not because you feel like you have to.

While it might seem as though this is a lot to think about just for the sake of your beauty routine, it's important to remember that taking care of yourself and looking good go hand in hand. If you're not looking after yourself, then that's going to be obvious to the whole world. If you put in that little bit of extra effort to really look after your skin and your body, then every look you choose is going to be even more amazing!
