My Favourite Winter Warmer Recipes

If there is one thing I love about Winter (and really the only thing since I much prefer warm weather) it’s the FOOD! I love comfort food and a good glass of red wine to accompany my meal in Winter.

I thought I would share 4 of my go-to Winter recipes that really hit the spot in the cooler weather. I’m one of those people whoa re 10x hungrier in Winter than I usually am (so pretty damn hungry) and I crave rich, filling and nourishing foods. These recipes will leave you totally satisfied and warmed up.

Shepard’s Pie
This is one of those go-to comfort foods that really hit the spot. A Shepard’s pie with a rich beef mince add carrot, celery, peas and spices. Top with a crispy golden layer of mashed potato and you are truly set.

Baked Salmon
This is a great winter warmer recipe while still being a bit of a lighter meal using fish rather than red meat. Get your Omega 3’s and bake your salmon for 25 minutes with cream cheese and chive butter. Serve with steamed broccoli and mashed potato. A nice eggplant, zucchini and capsicum stir fry will further warm you up while getting some extra serves of veggies in.
Lamb Shanks
Similar to Shepard’s pie, this recipe really hits the spot for comfort food. Add some port to the slow cooker with your meat and veg for a winter warmer hot pot. Served so well with mashed potato and broccoli.

Tomato Basil Gnocchi
If you are looking for an easy meal to whip together all while going meatless for the night, a basic tomato basil gnocchi is the way to go. It is super simple to dress up these fluffy potato pillows with a delicious garlic pasta sauce and herbs like basil.
