Behind the Desk – Gym Challenge, Becoming a Uni Tutor and Home Décor

Happy July everyone! Now that we’re half way through the year it’s a fantastic time to go over your goals and track your progress.

I have done a lot of reflecting over the past week to see what I have achieved and what my next steps are! It’s also a great time to outline any new healthy habits you want to pick up and think of like half year resolutions. I know I have done this and taken it to the extreme so I will get into that a little bit in this post.

Gym Challenge
This month to kick start my fitness for the second half of the year I have retired my fitness schedule of exclusively Pilates in replacement for a gym membership! So I haven’t fully retired the yoga mat because the gym does have some great Yoga / Pilates classes on offer but I certainly am doing a lot more variety when it comes to fitness. This month I am doing a 25 classes in 30 days challenge so will be regularly training in classes like strength, boxing, biking, cardio, TRX, bootcamps and much more. I think this fitness reset is exactly what I need to restructure my fitness routine for the rest of the year. To accompany this fitness change I’ve also swapped up my eating habits to loosely follow a ketogenic diet. This means high protein and fat with low carbs and sugar. If you have followed me for a while now you know my only relationship with diets is that aren’t sustainable so this is a lifestyle change rather than a periodic fad diet.

Morning Routine
I find that I hate working out at night because it gives me so much energy and I struggle to sleep so I have changed up my morning routine to wake up at 5am. I have LOVED getting up before the sun, working out then continuing on with a productive morning routine to set the tone of my day. I have incorporated a series of healthy habits into my morning and have been religiously sticking with them. Some are new while others I have done on and off for years. These include; meditation, gratitude, morning pages, reading and my skincare routine (which honestly feels like therapy and is basically gym for my skin haha). But this productive and relaxing way to start the day has been increasing my energy and seeing me get a LOT more done. I would highly recommend waking up earlier and seeing how it suits your lifestyle. I would also recommend reading The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod for more life changing magic.

University Tutoring and Masters Graduation
Alright, I know what your thinking. Yes I do only graduate at the end of this month and NO it doesn’t mean I’m leaving Uni haha. I’m not sure I ever will at this rate. So I was actually given an incredible opportunity starting this semester to become a University Tutor for a subject on social media management. This is an incredible achievement I am so proud of. If you had of told me a year ago I would be a tutor by the time I graduated my Masters degree I would have laughed. So this is an amazingly exciting next step in my academic career and I can NOT wait to get stuck into my class. One step at a time, let’s get this graduation done and dusted at the end of this month.

Decorating the New Place
Kmart has become my second home while we deck out our new home that we recently moved into. I think I have a few rooms down pat so would love to release a home decor series here on the blog shortly. It will focus around budget friendly decorating hacks for a modern scandi / rose gold theme. I could also go into balancing masculine and feminine vibes which could be useful if you live with your partner or are considering moving in with him.

So that’s all from me! I definitely have my hands full with all of the above but also a couple of secret projects – one of which you will hear about very shortly! I hope you’re all well and have a fantastic and super productive month reaching your goals!
