How to Realistically go to the Gym Everyday – 25 Classes in 30 Days

If you caught up with me on my latest ‘behind the desk’ update you would know that this month I have enrolled in a challenge with my gym to complete 25 classes in 30 days.

Essentially requiring you to attend the gym every day, having only Sunday off for a rest day. We’re currently about a week in and so far so good.

Before you think I’m some crazy gym nut let me say this – I’m not an exercise fan and it takes me some serious motivation to get my ass to the gym normally. So this is a real girl guide on how to get your butt to the gym daily, because it ain’t easy!

There are still mornings I struggle to get up at 5am for my class and my boyfriend is nudging me awake trying to motivate me – getting up on dark and cold winter mornings is not pretty.

I’m also perpetually sore because my muscles aren’t over the pain of the last workout before I subject it to the next. Although I’m pretty sure this is a good thing - just not comfortable.

But anyway, here is what IS working for me right now.

Make it part of your morning routine
If you workout in the morning then you’ve already done it for the day and remove all that pre gym dread you might have. By the time I get home from work and sit down I really don’t want to get back up again. So workout out in the morning means you get it done first thing and that’s it – pain over! Of course everyone is different though but if you’re like me and struggle to motivate for evening gym sessions, try going to the fun night classes like tennis or swim fit.

Have a gym buddy
This one is so bloody cliché but omg it works! My gym buddy is my awesome friend Katherine and we hold each other accountable for getting our asses to classes. In a lot of the workouts you need a partner, like with boxing or circuits you do in a pair, so having it be your beautiful friend encouraging you along the way is invaluable.

Sign up for a challenge
Gyms have challenges ALL the time, exactly like the one I’m doing right now. Having that accountability and way of measuring your success is a huge motivator. So having to do 25 classes in 30 days means I HAVE to unless I want to admit defeat (and I am VERY stubborn so I don’t back down). Because you’ll want to follow through and finish what you started, this is a great way to motivate you to get to the gym daily.

Have your diet support you
Health is 80% DIET and only 20% exercise so not only is this critical anyway but your body will also NEED you to support it nutritionally to push through all the exercise you’re doing. It’s your job to fuel your body with the right foods to keep your energy levels high and provide it with the nutrients to recover from the physical exertion.

I look forward to updating you on my daily gym progress once I have completed this challenge. Wish me luck!
