Behind the Desk- January 2019

Hello! How has 2019 been for you so far?

We have managed to speed through the first month of 2019 and are finding ourselves now at the end of January! I have so much to talk to you about including how I’m headed to Bali in just a couple of days and have so many other cool things coming up! Bali Let’s start with where I’ll be next week….

Bali!
I am so excited to spend a week on a tropical getaway. My only plans are to laze by the pool, get in some serious reading time, meditate, reflect and unwind. I’m headed there with my mum to celebrate both of our graduations from Uni last year and start 2019 off right. I have never bene to Bali before so I am extremely excited to explore a new country. I have been to Thailand and Vietnam before and had an incredible time so hopefully it ends up being quite similar to those holidays.

Airlie Beach
As soon as I get back from Bali I’m hopping on yet another plane to go on a trip to Airlie beach over Valentine’s Day! I have been to the Whitsundays but never Airlie Beach so I’m really excited to explore this new location.

Falling off the Goal Bandwagon
I’m not going to lie guys – it’s been hard to get into a routine this year that supports all of the goals I have for 2019. Specifically, my morning routine has not gone to plan and I have been finding it difficult to wake up early, get a workout in and do the other 50 things I want to do throughout the day. I’ve decided to take it a bit easy on myself and just do what I can, focussing on the things I am excelling at. For example, my goal to start painting classes this year has to wait until mid-year because my class schedule for my PhD clashes with the institute of art’s schedule. In the same vain, saving money towards a house deposit has taken the backburner while I pay for my Bali holiday and save towards a couple of other trips coming up this year. I have also splurged on a few designer items this year so far – more on that in a future blog post. Something I have been keeping up with is my reading! I have been getting through some fantastic books recently and I can’t wait to share them with you in my ‘Books I’ve Read Lately’ series.

Starting my PhD
Yep the day is nearly here! As soon as I’m back from Bali I have to get stuck into my PhD right away with classes commencing and a lot of strategizing that needs to occur. I don’t have much more to say on this other than – I am so scared haha. I am also very excited and motivated to do great work within my PhD program because I know Uni inspires me but I definitely am having moments of self-doubt.

Self-Care
Something I am patting myself on the back for this year so far is making time for my self-care. By this I mean not driving myself so hard into the ground or giving myself a hard time when I miss a workout or eat a chocolate bar. It’s a mix of both physical and mental self-care but it has seriously made a huge difference to my happiness. I absolutely love spending a couple of hours on the weekend doing a little pamper routine; hair mask, nails, facial, massage etc.

YouTube Giveaway
I have been making an effort to get back into YouTube – filming and uploading videos more regularly! I currently have a giveaway up on my channel for a HEAP of chances to win a copy of my book. Check it out HERE and you’re in for a great chance to win!

That’s all from me for now! Not a huge number of things happening but I thought I would give you a quick update anyway! Next month I’ll be able to share some fun details of what went on during my 2 holidays and other cool things that commence as of next month!
