Lack Of Concentration: Could It Be Down To Your Lifestyle?

We all have off days where we just can’t seem to focus on work. But what if you start feeling like that every day and whatever you do, you just can’t concentrate on anything? It might be that you’re bored with work or whatever else it is you are trying to focus on, but it could also be down to lifestyle factors that are impacting your health and your ability to concentrate. These are some of the big lifestyle factors that cause lack of concentration.

Dehydration

This is a big one and if you are finding it tough to focus, the first thing you should do is drink some water. Lack of concentration is one of the most common symptoms of dehydration and you will probably notice that you feel fatigued and you may have a headache too. The good news is, drinking plenty of filtered water every day will get rid of those symptoms in no time and you will find that you are able to focus properly again.

Low Oxygen Levels

Low oxygen levels in the home and an excess of carbon dioxide can lead to a lot of symptoms that are similar to dehydration, like headaches and lack of concentration. Many people have problems with low oxygen levels because their air condition units are not working correctly so fresh air is not being cycled through the home. If you find that you suddenly lose concentration, it’s worth calling a 24 hour AC repair company to see if there is anything wrong with your air conditioner. Putting some plants around the home is also good because they will take in the carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

Poor Sleep

Lack of sleep can lead to a lot of physical and mental health problems in the long term and in the short term, it can cause a decline in cognitive ability and focus. If you are tired all the time because you are not sleeping properly, you won’t be able to concentrate properly during the day. So, if lack of focus is becoming an issue for you, make sleep a priority and try to get into a good routine. Going to sleep and waking up at the same time each day is the best way to get your body clock into a good rhythm.

Technology Addiction

We all get distracted by our phones from time to time, but some people develop a serious technology addiction and it has a huge impact on concentration. When you are trying to work, do you constantly feel a compulsion to check your phone every 5 minutes? This quickly gets in the way and even when you are not actively looking at your phone, you are thinking about it instead of focusing on the task at hand. Technology addiction can be a big problem so if you think that you spend too much time on your phone and it’s causing problems with concentration, you should think about cutting down. There are some great screen time apps that will help you break away from your phone and boost your concentration.

These lifestyle factors can all kill your concentration so if you are finding it hard to focus, consider making some changes.
