BATTLE OF THE PRIMERS

I truly believe that a good primer is the basis of face makeup and that it can really help assist your foundation to achieve perfect results. It's the same concept as a house being built on a strong base. There are so many primers on the markets these days though, it seems like every brand has come out with multiple options so it can be kind of confusing as to which one will suit you best. So I have decided to create this little 'battle of the primers" similar to my "battle of the BB creams" article which will hopefully help you in deciding what kind of primer you would like to invest in.

Primers have the ability to not only prepare the skin for foundation but can also:
* Colour correct
* Minimize oil
* Give a luminous finish
* Moisturize the skin
* Protect skin from the sun
* Naturally prime with minerals

In this article we are going to take a look at most of these aspects of primer with four different products.

1. Mary Kay Oil Mattifier
This primer has been specifically designed to reduce oiliness of the skin for a more matte foundation look. This is perfect if you have oily skin and don't want to cake on the powder because it combats the issue before it has begun by minimizing the amount of oil produced by your face. Other sorts of primer that serve another purpose other than priming include; luminous primers and colour correction primers.

2. Bloom Prep and Prime
This is just your regular primer that has a similar consistency to moisturiser so it doubles up as a product because of it's moisturising and priming abilities.

3. Nude by Nature Mineral
So the main benefit of this primer is that it's made with all natural ingredients. This makes it perfect if you want to cut down on the hidden nasties you put onto your skin or if you have sensitive skin and react badly to other primers. Products like these are the more natural side of primers.

4. Face of Australia Face Base
A very comparable consistency to the Bloom Prep and Prime but this primer has an additional benefit which is SPF! So as well as priming and moisturising, it also protects your skin from the sun which is really important as we know for many reasons. I love it whenever I can get extra SPF on my face somehow so having it in my primer is perfect.

So that's a little overview of all the primers I currently own. As you can see, there are so many primer options out there and there is a product to suit anyone's needs. I think that if you choose one that is specifically tailored to what your skin requires then it can make a huge impact on how your foundation looks.

I hope you found this helpful.
Thanks for reading ♥

* The Mary Kay primer was gifted to me but all opinions are honest and my own.

Great post Jordy! I love the FOA one and used that one daily until recently I found Illamasqua primers and I don't think I could ever go back!

The FOA one is said to be a really great primer but sadly I don't live in Australia.. I'm out to give either the Clinique Pore Minimizer, or Benefit Porefessional a try though since I ran out of my Revlon PhotoReady Primer! Great post :) xx
