Superfood Supplements I Love

I know there is a lot of hype and cynicism surrounding the term 'super foods' but really all it refers to is ingredients that have exceptionally amazing properties that are really healthy for you.

In this post I'm running through my 7 favourite super foods that I regularly use in my recipes for an added hit of nutrition. I am a firm believer that it's all the little things that add up to the bigger picture when it comes to health and vitality.

So let's get into it...

Maca Powder
Hands down one of my fave superfoods because of how incredible this one tastes. It's somewhere between caramel and malt milk so I definitely don't mind adding this into any sweet dishes I'm pulling together. This one works to improve your cardiovascular system, leading to a healthy heart. It also aids with energy levels and stamina. It's also the perfect addition to a creamy banana protein smoothie for an added caramel taste.

Spirulina
Okay so I'm going to be real with you... this stuff is NASTY! Like sewer water mixed with soggy seaweed. But it's extremely good for you, packed with antioxidants and more iron than spinach. It's the perfect addition to a green smoothie, get the recipe here.

LSA Meal
This one is a great source of fibre, omega 3, 6 and 9, protein, vitamins, calcium, zinc and so much more. It's a mix of linseeds, sunflower seeds and almonds but man is it good for you. Sprinkle sprinkle into a smoothie or acai bowl for a bit of crunch but a whole lot of nutrients.

Chia Seeds
I am such a fan of these little seeds because they are shockingly a complete protein! So cool right that these little seeds have so much subsistence in them. Not only that but they expand in liquid, or you stomach and keep you fuller for longer as well as give you an extra dose of fibre. You can hide these so well in my 'ultimate super food protein smoothie' recipe.

Tumeric
This plant from the ginger family is fantastic for you and the perfect addition to any savoury dish. Add it to any curry or slow cooker recipe for a strong natural anti-inflammatory that helpcs reduce any swelling in the body, preventing many diseases.

Cayenne
This fiery ingredient is incredible for you! It helps restore the circulatory system and regulate blood sugar. Meaning that it controls your appetite and moves bacteria and toxins out of your body. Mix it in with some cinnamon and you can make an awesome detox drink, get the recipe here.

So those are my 7 favourite superfood supplements that I love and swear by. I've been using all of these for years and years which is why they are in my top favourites but I have plenty more I enjoy so there might be a part 2 to this!
