AUTUMN/WINTER ESSENTIAL: DARK LIPS

I'm starting this new series over on my YouTube channel and here as well all about Autumn and Winter essentials. The first essential in this series is dark lips! I can never go past a gorgeous red or berry shade in the cooler weather because it contrasts so well with the dark layered outfits that I tend to reach for. So I have decided to share with you all my six favourite products for achieving the dark lips look, half drugstore and half high end so you have loads of options at different price ranges.

BENEFIT LOLLITINT {REVIEW AND SWATCHES}

The latest of Benefit Tints to launch is this fuchsia-lilac beauty, LolliTint. This product comes in the wake of other popular Benefit tints including; BeneTint, ChaChaTint and PosieTint. In this review I'm going to explain how this tint compares to all the rest, it's uses (with swatches) and ultimately if it's worth purchasing so keep on reading.

THE MET GALA 2014 FASHION - BEST AND WORST DRESSED

Last night in America was the Met Gala 2014, yet another event for celebrities to get dresses head to toe in their finest wear. As expected there were glimmering stars and their beauty made my jaw drop while others made me cringe. So I have chosen my best and worst three gowns from this years MET Gala...keep reading to see who made the cut and who could have chosen better dresses.

 

BEST DRESSED

Blake Lively in Gucci. With this breathtaking gown I saw a bit of real life Serena Van der Woodsen in Blake, either that or she hired the same stylist she had for Gossip Girl. In all seriousness though this is the most incredible dress from the entire event and my jaw dropped when I saw it for the first time. It's made from a gorgeous silky dusty rose material with a rose gold threading throughout. It hugs her curves in all the right ways with the neckline being the perfect combination of low cut yet classy. My favourite feature is the elegant ruching of material around the waist and also at the shoulders because it makes the dress so unique. This gown also features a subtle mermaid hemline as well as an interesting train. I think it could have definitely done without the train but it adds so much more character to the dress so I actually like it.

MAC "REBEL" LIPSTICK {REVIEW AND SWATCHES}

Now that the weather is finally cooling down in Brisbane I have started pulling out all of my deep Autumn and Winter lip shades, of them including MAC Rebel. To me this lip colour is why I get excited about my makeup in the cooler months, it's just such a bold makeup statement that I think perfectly compliments the cooler weather colour scheme and fashion also. COLLECTION OVERVIEW: MAYBELLINE SUPERSTAY LIP PRODUCTS

We all hate it when we find ourselves reapplying our lip product continuously throughout the day so that's why most companies have a long lasting range with Maybelline being no exception. I wanted to put the Maybelline SuperStay range to the test and let you all know what I think that way if you have been looking for a lip product that lasts a long time then hopefully this can help.
 

THE LOGIES 2014 FASHION - THE GOOD AND THE VERY BAD





The Logies isn't something I'm usually particularly interested in as I don't watch many Aussie dramas or TV shows but after seeing a few photos flying around from last night I immediately jumped online to see more. The fashion is what captured me as I saw such a vast assortment of gowns (for the good and the bad) so I thought what better idea then to make a "bests and worsts" from the night. THE BALM "HOUNDSTOOTH" BLUSH {REVIEW}

 

The Balm is a brand that I have had my eye on for some time now primarily because of the adorable packaging that is undeniably comparable to Benefit. I have been trying out a lot of their products lately and this one that I have particularly been loving, the Instain Long Wearing Powder Blush in "Houndstooth".

Let's first of all take a moment to appreciate the packaging, you can't beat a mock magazine as the encasing for your beautiful speckled egg design blush. The colour of the blush can best be described as a peachy pink with dusty maeve undertones and the fun little addition of fuchsia speckles.

 

UNIVERSITY/SCHOOL ESSENTIALS ♥ BEAUTY AND FASHION

 

I run you through all of the beauty and fashion products I consider essential for University! This is also quite applicable to school, tafe or other education institutions as it can be treated as a sort of "survival kit" for those circumstances.

CONTOURING AND HIGHLIGHTING ROUTINE ♥


This post is going to prove to you all once again the incredible power of makeup where in this case it can make your facial structure appear different depending on where you put a highlight and contour.

The basic method is highlight to accentuate and contour in places you want to minimise. I am using foundation or this routine because I want to show you how simple it can be when you don't have to worry about fiddling around with concealers and foundations at the same time. It doesn't take that much extra time to use two different shades of foundation and apply them in different areas but it is more complicated than just slapping on foundation. So this is not a massive huge process and could be achievable for everyday use plus I think the results are well worth the effort.

 

MARCH FAVOURITES 2014 ♥



So here I am with my monthly favourites post, letting you know about all of the products I loved in March! This month has a mixture of products, primarily makeup but also including a bit of skin care so keep reading to find out more about all of these fantastic products.

Essence Match 2 Cover! Cream Concealer
Knowing it's from Essence we know what an affordable product it is and this concealer duo includes two different shades. I find the lighter colour to be perfect for concealing under eye circles while I haven't yet found a use for the darker colour although it could work for cream shading as it's not dark enough for contouring. If you're looking for a very light and extremely high coverage concealer then this is the one, not only at an affordable price but also great quality. This is an essential for university after a long night staying up working on assignments. A higher end alternative to a great under eye concealer that I also loved in March is Benefit Fake Up. If you aren't familiar with this product it's actually an extremely moisturising concealer that includes the product in the middle with a coating on moisturise concealing the product so that it's very moisturising when you blend it in.

DRAGONBERRY CANDY COUTURE FASHION SHOW

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a beautiful fashion show put together by Dragonberry in celebration of their Candy Couture launch. This event showcased the new candy inspired collection which consists of a beautiful mix from rompers to jumpers, each made with beautiful pastel colours. It was an absolutely fantastic event and really well organised so keep reading to look more into this colourful fashion show!

The "Candy Couture" range is inspired by the pastels of lolly hearts and it definitely translates into the pieces that have been created for this collection. The colour scheme is primarily candy floss blue and baby pink with hints of lilac and peach thrown in for good measure. Something that is great to see and that Dragonberry doesn't disappoint with is that it's an affordable range with all of these pieces being under $60, hitting the price point of these statement pieces perfectly. TARTE AMAZONIAN CLAY BLUSH AND BRONZER DUO {REVIEW}

I only recently tried Tarte for the first time but that doesn't mean that I haven't been eyeing their products for so long now. It's just so hard to find Tarte here in Australia but I was given the opportunity to finally put their products to the test when I received two items in a swap with my beautiful American friend Sammy. I must say, I am extremely impressed with the overall quality of the two products from Tarte that I have now tried and I will have to find a way to get my hands on them easier. So here is my review on the Amazonian Clay Blush and Bronzer Duo.
