GEORGE WU COLLECTION OVERVIEW - MERCEDES BENZ FASHION FESTIVAL BRISBANE

I had the pleasure of viewing the new collection from George Wu while at Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival and was so impressed with all of the divine creators that I had to share them with you! Out from behind the curtains emerged mostly evening dresses fit for a modern day woman and one pants and top combination.

MERCEDES BENZ FASHION FESTIVAL - MYER S/S15 SHOW

Monday night I had the pleasure of attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane to check out what Myer has to offer for Spring/Summer 2015. MBFF, in its ninth year, is always an interesting night full of fashion and glamour; it’s where you see a different side to Brisbane since everyone dresses to the nines, not a sequin out of place. Let’s face it; as a city for fashion we aren’t in the big leagues with Melbourne and Sydney but let’s give ourselves some credit…we are getting there. I was in my element surrounded by fit and flare minis, sequin gowns and pastel crops. The Myer S/S15 Show is always the most anticipated hence why it kicks off the entire affair by being the opening and only show on the first night. If you were only to attend one show the whole week then this would be it. Everyone who is anyone is there; from prominent social media personalities to Alex Perry himself and from Jennifer Hawkin’s hunk to Brisbane’s most prevalent models. It’s a show not to miss. After hearing the call “10 minutes until start, the show running on time”, everyone had their last sip of wine at The Fashion Bar and filed into Brisbane City Hall.

STYLE SPOT: TWEED

Lately I have been seeing Tweed everywhere; on runways, in the shops and all over fashion blogs! I decided to jump on this glitter covered bandwagon and try out tweed for myself, in the process I found myself looking online for inspiration so decided to share it with you girls as well. Mainly because I have such a preconceived idea about tweed that I was shocked when I found so many gorgeous outfits showing how versatile the print is! First up is the gorgeous dusty pink and blue tweed two piece pictured above. It's perfect for Spring or Autumn where you can pull of wearing shorts while also sporting a jacket. The pretty pastels make it particularly matched for Spring and when paired with gold and chains makes an edgy outfit.

JORDAN CANNON INTERVIEWS: THERESE KERR

Health and wellness advocate, Author, mother of Miranda and Matthew Kerr, and now Therese Kerr can add owner of personal care range to her list of accomplishments. Recently I attended one of Therese's beautifully constructed events, located at Organic Wray Northlakes on Brisbane's Northside. It was the perfect place for the event to be held, right amongst aisles of health foods and fresh produce.

MAC STARTER KIT / MAC FOR BEGINNERS

Going to a MAC counter for the first time can be overwhelming, in the best way possible, and even more confusing if you don't know what you're looking for. Not only is MAC a brand that offers unbelievable amounts of products in so many shades (making it easy to get lost amongst it all) but they are more expensive than your typical Maybelline or Rimmel product so it requires a bit more thought for you to spend your money on. It seems as though a lot of you have been going to MAC for the first time and are unsure where to start since I have received so many messages seeking advice for which products I would recommend first up. If you're going into MAC for your first time then I would advise a game plan to make sure you don't become overwhelmed with everything on offer. MAC have pretty much everything but you don't need everything on your first trip, that's why I have created this starter kit where I have recommended which MAC essentials are worth looking into first up.

FERRIS WHEELS AND FAIRY FLOSS - JBS TAKES THE EKKA 2014

Yesterday I braved the rain and headed out to The Ekka for an authentic carnival experience. If you're unsure what the Ekka is then basically it's a huge exhibition that comes around for a week or so each year; filled with rides, carnival food, showbags, a petting zoo, lots of shows and markets etc. It's the Brisbane equivalent of the Sydney Royal Easter Show and The Royal Melbourne Show.

There's something about exhibitions that has always captivated me, especially as a kid, The Ekka was definitely a highlight of my childhood and I was lucky enough to go almost every year. So I didn't hesitate to round up my little brothers and sisters to take them on an Ekka adventure while the carnival was still in town. I thought that I would share my experience through a series of photos so I hope that you enjoy!

GOLDWELL BLONDES & HIGHLIGHTS {FULL RANGE REVIEW}

Being a blonde can be hard work, granted that I'm not as blonde as I used to be since getting ombre but it's the hair colour most susceptible to experiencing issues. If you swim in chlorine then you're hair can turn greenish and if you don't balance your hair out with purple products then your blonde can turn brassy. Goldwell has specifically formulated an entire range around maintenance for blonde hair to ensure your golden locks, well, don't become too golden.

There are four different components to this collection featuring a shampoo, conditioner, treatment and heat protectant. All four serve a certain purpose, all equally important.

MAC SNOB LIPSTICK {REVIEW + SWATCHES + COMPARISON}

I can never seem to find a good nude shade that isn't way too light for my fair skin. There's this unfortunate thing that happens every time I apply a very nude lipstick...I look deathly sick and corpse like. I know right, lovely. So when I was just about ready to give up on looking for a nude lipstick I stopped myself and realised that I've been looking in the wrong place all this time.

Nude lipsticks usually have an undertone of pink or coral so all I needed to do was find the perfect in between of nude and pink or nude and coral. That I did - MAC Snob proved to be the best of both worlds and is now my go-to lipstick when I'm looking to achieve that light lip look. I also found my perfect coral nude which is MAC Sweet and Sour but I'll leave that for a different day.

REVIEW: BENEFIT ULTRA PLUSH LIPGLOSSES

Something that a lot of you have probably noticed is that I'm not a huge tube lipgloss fan and my dislike for gloss mainly comes down to most formulations on the market being too sticky. I definitely don't apply lipgloss hoping my hair will stick on my lips but it happens all too often. Fortunately there have been a small select few products that have pleasantly surprised me with their smooth and creamy formulation while still achieving a glossy lip look. One of these is the Benefit Ultraplush Lip Gloss.

After collecting three of the colours I thought that it was about time to share my thoughts on this range with you so here we go.

EOS LIP BALMS {REVIEW}

When I first started watching YouTube I would constantly hear about the EOS from US beauty gurus and was so intrigued by them. EOS stands for evolution of smooth and is a brand best known for their sphere lip balms. I totally understand the appeal, nice smelling lip balms in cute pastel coloured containers in an egg formation. It got to a point where I decided that I had to try one out, at all costs, and boy did I pay up big. These retail for under $5 in the US but at the time the only place Aussies could get their hands on them was eBay and they were priced upwards of $20. So I paid the twenty something dollars and finally got my hands on one in the Sweet Mint flavour.

MAYBELLINE COLOR ELIXIRS {REVIEW AND SWATCHES}

Maybelline dominate the drugstore lip product options and captivate us beauty addicts. This time last year it was the Color Whispers making an appearance on every beauty blog and I am pleased to say that Maybelline have not disappointed us with this new lip product release of the Color Elixirs. I have seen much hype surrounding these beautiful tubes of colour so I was eager to give them a go as soon as I could. Especially since when I first saw them my initial thoughts were how similar they are to a product that I love dearly, the Dior Fluid Sticks, particularly regarding the packaging and concept. Seeing that the Dior product is $50 and that this Maybelline one is a mere fraction of that price, I was excited to see not only what the product was like but also how it compared to similar products on the market. I'm glad to finally see these hit our shores considering the US has had them for almost a year now so let's get into examining these.

YELLOW AND PINK MAKEUP TUTORIAL

This has not much to do with which season we're in since this is definitely not your typical Winter makeup look but I needed a break from the deep burgundy shades that I did to death in Fall and the beginning of Winter. A while back I posted a photo on my instagram of a bouquet of pink and yellow roses that inspired me to do this makeup tutorial and a lot of you encouraged me to create a look based from it and so ever since I have been collecting the right products for the tutorial. I went with the light yellow on the lid and a pink through the crease but it requires a bit of technique to get the colours so vibrant (the photo really washes the colour out, it's much more vibrant in real life I promise). So keep reading for more information on this look and a list of products used to achieve this. If you prefer to watch rather than read or would like a step-by-step tutorial then you can click HERE to watch the full video.
