Must Have Valentine’s Day Accessories

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, you might find yourself with plans for a romantic date or dinner reservations.

So naturally your next train of thought is what to wear, given that it’s a special occasion and any excuse to dress up will do.

I have spent some time pulling together my top 4 accessory essentials for the most romantic day of the year, making a chic statement regardless of the outfit you decide on.

I also thought it would be a cool way to tell you about some designer pieces I have added to my wardrobe in an effort to start building a strong collection of high end and quality pieces. I want to start focussing on investing in designer pieces that I know are built to last rather than having a high turnover in my wardrobe from semi quality pieces. I will explain this in a future post, as well as my detailed plans on how I will build out my high end capsule wardrobe, but for now I have a new bag and pair of shoes to discuss further in this post.

YSL Kate Tassel Logo Bag
As an avid Louis Vuitton fan for a number of years now, my swap in loyalty of brands has been quite a daring one. I love how indestructible a LV canvas bag is and how you can throw it around but when I went to invest in a new one, nothing jumped out at me. I feel the chic and timeless look of a YSL bag speaks more to my personality now and recently adding this versatile piece to my collection was a worthwhile investment. It’s the perfect in-between of a day bag and night clutch – big enough to fit all the essentials but not too large that you will overpack it. Overly big bags are where I went wrong with LV – think a Neverfull and a Speedy 30 – they allowed me to carry around way too many unnecessary items. The classic pairing of black leather and gold decals makes this a stunning piece.

MAC Ruby Woo
We love a good red lipstick moment on Valentine’s Day and this cult classic MAC bullet is kiss proof. It’s a creamy rich red that suits the most skin tones and has a blue undertone to bring out the white in your teeth. It’s a matte finish so the colour is opaque but stays put. This has been my go-to red for years and I think it is highly worth the investment next time you’re picking up some goodies at the MAC counter.

Christian Louboutin So Kate
I have had one pair of Loubs in my life before and recently sold them because they had never fit correctly. I blindly bought them second hand so got a size 39 and they were a good size or two too large that no gel pads could fix. So, I never ended up wearing them for long because I was always padding around falling out of my shoes. This time I made sure not to repeat my mistake, investing in a brand-new pair for size 37 120mm So Kate’s. I also opted for nude this time instead of black because I feel a killer pair of high-quality nude heels is ESSENTIAL for a capsule wardrobe. I’m so glad I made this investment into a pair of shoes I know will last my years and years, suiting nearly everything in my wardrobe. You can’t go past these to complete your outfit on an occasion like Valentine’s Day!

Pandora Linked Love Ring
Bring a subtle hint of love and romance to your accessories with this heart link ring. There is something so feminine about this dainty stacking ring and the rose gold adds warmth and sparkle to the look.

Happy Valentine's Day lovers!

Get The Look - Football Gala Dinner

This Saturday just gone I swapped my usual weekend attire of living in my active wear for a black tie dress code.

Really, who doesn't like an excuse to dress up? Even if the night ends with eating cheeseburgers in the back of a cab, at least you look like you have your life together while doing so because your hair is in place. Although not the same case with my lipstick, but that's another story..

Anyway what I'm here to talk about are all the details of my outfit, hair and makeup from the night. Spoiler alert: my dress only cost me $80.

6 OUTFITS THAT STOLE THE SHOW AT THE MET GALA 2016

It's where the elite go to dress up and show off their gorgeous looks in New York - how very Gossip Girl (oh hey Blake Lively).

Yes we are talking the Met Gala 2016 and 6 looks that stole the show this year, not to mention the stunning celebrities that wore them. It's a night that electrifies the city and all the A list celebrities step out in their designer gowns. Only in this post we won't be focusing on designers (ahem, Balmain, Kylie Jenner) but rather creativity uniqueness.

CONTOURING MADE EASY

Whether you struggle to find a product that works well for you or always end up with a harsh line, contouring mishaps are avoided with these fool proof products and techniques.

I have quite a round face so contouring for me is a great way of changing the shape of my face. Despite this I'm not as into contouring as I once was and often skip it on the daily but for night looks, events, in videos and when I know photos will be taken, I love to harness the power of contouring.

Read on for a run down on my favourite products are some technique tips on ensuring a perfect contour every time.

PRO BLOW DRY FROM HOME WITH CASUALCURL

With the CasualCurl, one of my favourite looks to achieve are these wearable soft curls for everyday salon quality hair without leaving the house.

This style adds texture and volume to my hair and leaves me looking like I just stepped out of a "round brush blow dry" at the salon with bouncy voluminous curls.

See how I created this look with the pictorial below.

GET THE LOOK: LAUREN CONRAD

I created this series on my blog so if you are interested in wearing what the specific celebrity is wearing, you are able to find out where to purchase each item to reconstruct the exact outfit. I think this is great because celebrities are always very fashionable and put together so now anyone can know where to find and buy these products online to look just as fashionable!

This time I will be recreating a look that Lauren Conrad wore at the ENK Fashion Coterie to represent her new fashion line "Paper Crown". She is dressed very casual but still chic and put together. She accented her all black outfit with a camel colored blazer and wedges. I seriously love this look and wanted to show you girls where you can get the pieces she's wearing to copy this style.

I'm sure every girl has a basic black top hanging around in their closet so this is a super easy part of the outfit to recreate. Any loose fitting long black top will work so just use anything that you have.

Her blazer really pulls the whole outfit together and matches her shoes perfectly! I looked into a lot of different blazers and this one is probably your best bet. It's almost identical only the fold doesn't go right down to the button and the button is camel color also, not black.

This is another piece which is super easy to find and has a huge price range depending on what your prepared to spend. I love these wet look / liquid leggings because they really add something different to an outfit instead of normal leggings.

These wedges match the blazer perfectly and look amazing with the liquid leggings.

I was a little surprised by Lauren's choice to add the geeky style glasses to her outfit but she pulls it off very nicely and they are also very affordable and a nice touch to the overall look.

Lauren has a really thin blue bracelet on her right arm so of course improvise with anything you have but if you don't have anything similar, i suggested this ASOS bracelet.

Lauren just has a few basic silver rings on her fingers.

OPI Wine Me & Dine Me
Lauren is wearing a deep wine colour on her nails, this is from the Hollywood collection.

So those are my suggestions on how to recreate the look that Lauren wore while promoting her new fashion line "Paper Crown".
I hope you enjoyed and found this helpful.
