HOW TO: KEEP YOUR NAILS HEALTHY AND STRONG!

We use our hands for everything; as we punch a number into our mobile, wash the dishes, prepare a meal, gather our books out of our locker for a new class, flick through magazines and play sport. But do we ever stop to consider the the damage that all of this is doing to our nails? Our hands and nails are such an important part of our daily routine and we constantly risk their strength as we go about our day, often unintentionally. Read on to find out a few ways you can improve the condition of your nails and keep them healthy and strong.

TIP 1. INSIDE AND OUT: What makes up your nail comes from the inside so target that first by drinking lots of water. Keeping your body hydrated constantly makes your body have to work less on hydrating and more on growing. Your nails depend on you to maintain a healthy diet which consists of a large quantity.

TIP 2. NAIL POLISH: Nail polish is bad for your nails as it keeps them from getting fresh air. However, you can still wear nail polish if you take care of your manicure. You do not want the polish chipping or cracking because parts of your nail goes with it. Also, wear a base coat beneath every nail polish to stop the colour from tinting your nails and the ingredients from soaking in as much.

TIP 3. AVOID BRITTLE NAILS: Brittleness is what starts an unhealthy chain of events for your nails so avoid brittle nails! You can do this by increasing calcium in your diet, sparingly use substances containing alcohol which is nail polish and purfumes lotions, wear rubber gloves when you do chores and don't use your nails as tools. You know what i mean...attempting to open things that you need actual tools for!

TIP 4. FAKE/ACRYLIC NAILS: Avoid regular use of fake nails and if you have acrylics then i would re-think them. My mum used to have them which i thought was crazy because she has the best nails you have ever seen, no joke. They are always long with white tips and never break. So they became to much matience for her and she got them removed. After they were removed she notice that they were much weaker, they took longer to grow and were discoloured. They have recovered now but it has been 2 years. So i wouldn't reccomend getting arylic nails because they do ruin your actual nails and stay damaged for quite a long time after removal.

TIP 5. NAIL FOOD: This was kind of mentioned in Tip 1 but in this tip i will mention specific foods that will help with your nails strength. these helpful foods include asparagus, apples, brown rice, eggs, garlic, grapes, nuts, onions, salon, seeds, soy, tuna and whole grains. (The foods listed are from a website and i did not list them, that is not my writing).

So they are just a few tips and tricks i have learnt so far. It's just some things that i do to keep my nails healthy and strong.

HOW TO: DETERMINE WHEN TO THROW OUT YOUR BEAUTY PRODUCTS!

Now i don't mean throw your makeup out because you don't like it. I mean throw your beauty products out because it is growing bacteria and will infect your face and body unless you discontinue use of it. I have always wondered when i should throw out my makeup or when it is getting too old so i did a little research and would love to share my findings with you.

MASCARA:
I mention mascara first because this is the most important piece of makeup that you need to keep your tabs on. Most mascaras in a tube with a wand have some sort of antibacterial agent in them which will protect your for about 6 weeks meaning that you could possibly keep your mascara for up to 4 months. Your probably thinking how that is possible when you are only protected for 6 weeks, well that is because it takes a while for bacteria to start growing on your mascara, about 4 months in fact. If you do not throw your mascara out after 4 months then you are opening yourself up to eye infections. If you notice a change in consistancy or smell, even before the 4 months, then throw it out immendiently because it is not worth it.

CONCEALER: 1 year
PRESSED FOUNDATION: 1 1/2 years
BLUSH: 6 months

EYELINERS: 3 years, as long and you sharpen them regularly.
EYESHADOW: 3 years, as long as you use a brush and keep your fingers out of it.
LIP LINER: 3 years, as long as sharpened regularly.
LIPSTICK: 4 years or when it becomes sticky and melts no matter what temperature it is in. To help keep your lipsticks for longer, keep them in the fridge. However, i am sure that you are able to finish a lipstick within 4 years and it would be a bother having to keep them in the fridge.

CREAM & GEL CLEANSERS: 1 year

NAIL POLISH: Nail polish should last for 2 years but the cheap brands usually only last for 1 year. If you see that the colour and oils are seperating, it smells different or has become sticky then it is time to let it go.

Remember that all makeup goes off and to use your head when determining whether a product is safe to use. You can increase the life of your products by washing applicators regularly and handling them with clean hands. However, bacteria sometimes still finds it's way in even half wat through the products life and you have to be strong and throw it out if you notice anything differeny about it. High end shoud be fine for a while but keep your eye out on your drugstore products as they are not made with as much care.

HOW TO: MATCH EYE SHADOW WITH YOUR EYE COLOUR!

You have picked out your outfit and the perfect eyeshadow to match but then you begin to apply the eye shadow and realize that the colour is clashing with that of your eyes. Personally, i always stop while putting on shadow and think to myself if anything really matches deep bluey green eyes! So recently i have done a bit of research on what colours go with what eye colours and i am here to share that with you.

BLUE EYES:

With blue eyes, don't even think about touching that MAC "Clarity". In other words stay away from blue because blue on blue will not work out well. If you want your eyes to look amazing then try browns with a slight purple base and taupe. If your not really into the neutrals or just want to spice things up a little then try a nice rose colour. The contrast from pink and purple will go well with blue!
Reccomended MAC Shadows: Da Bling, Swish, Creme de Violet, Sketch and Plum Dressing.

BROWN EYES:

Well it looks like if you have brown eyes then you can get away with wearing almost any colour. Just try and stay away from muddy browns as that may dull out your beautiful brown colour. If you have gold flecks in your eyes then you can bring them out even further with gold shimmery shadows. Oh and green really brings out brown.
Reccomended MAC Shadows: Juxt, Bitter, Swimming, Newly Minted and Greensmoke.

GREEN EYES:
If you are green eyed (not in the jealous way) then try using various shades of purple to bring out the gorgeous green. purples will contrast with green making your eyes seem more dramatic. Warm mocha browns and earth tones with hints of gold will help your green eyes. Also try lavenders and colours that match the different coloured flecks within your eyes. Green eyes are most common to multi-coloured flecks so experiment with them.
Reccomended MAC Shadows: Beautiful Iris, Par fait Amour, Idol Eyes and Stars N' Rockets.

In conclusion, don't take this post as something that you have to abide by. these are just suggestion as to what colours suit best and it should be fun choosing what colours to put on your eyes. Just try and keep your eye shadow matching either you outfit or your eyes and you will be fine. Often times, all your eyes need is a hint of colour to bring them back to life.

HOW TO FIND: THE PERFECT LIPGLOSS!

Hey everyone,
I already did a post like this but on hairspray, you can read it here. I think i am going to make this a little series or something. It's just that i think this is more productive and helpful compared to 5 hauls in a row. Tell me if you like it!

When looking for a lipgloss you have to consider many different aspects. So i have created this post to show you what i look for in a lipgloss and hopefully it will help you next time your looking for a new gloss.

1. FLAVOUR: There is nothing worse than tasting the chemical waxyness of a lip product. You might not think that it is an important key in lipgloss but if you have to have it on all day, the taste will show on your face. Your look how you feel so ensure that you look at the ingredients of the lipgloss and see if there are any flavours in it to cover up the bad taste. If all else fails...research it on blogs, youtube, google, friends and family.

2. TEXTURE: You have to make sure that the product won't go on your lips goopy, chunky or thick. At the same time you dont want it to be so thin you wear the whole container at once. If there is a tester then try it on your hand . If it is uneven in some areas, thick or gloopy at all then that will give you a quick insight to what it will be like on your lips. Then touch it with your finger and if any product strings or becomes sticky through the transversion of your hand to your finger eliminate it from your choices. The last test is getting a paper towel or tissue and trying to wipe it off. If it leaves it hard to get off, sticks to everything or leaves an irriated red mark afer removal then it isn't the gloss for you.
3. SHINE: You want shine but you don't want a glassy effect. Don't be fooled by MAC's lip product "Lip Glass". Those products don't actually make your lips look like they are coated with glass and that is for the best. You also want to be able to eat without your food sliding from your lips. Look for a gloss that has more shimmer and less shine. That way it is more practical but gives the same effect.

4. PROTECTION: You want a gloss that protects your lips from the wind, chaffing, dryness. You can get an insight into if the product would help by looking at the ingredients. if it mentions any minerals, oils or softening agents then i would predict it may have some protection aspects. Also look for a gloss that has an SPF in it.

5. PRICE: you don't want to have to pay up big to get a gloss with all of the above in it. Especially when it most probably only cost a few dollars to make and has obviously been priced up when hit the shelves. You can get good stuff for cheap but make sure you don't expect too cheap. Quality is better than quantity and it's much better to have one very good gloss that you can use everyday rather than 10 which you don't necessarily love.

6. NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS This is a very controversial topic but it is always better to know that you are not supporting animal cruelty. the Body Shop is a big supporter with this so their products are heavily reccomended for this aspect. Today most brands are not tested on animals so this should be an easy one to cross off your list.

So i think i have shared with you all i know about lipgloss and what you should be looking for in one. I hope this helps you guys because i have a draw full of lipgloss to back up me up when i say...i have tried so many lip products and know the ins and outs of what a lipgloss can be. I am really looking forward to making more posts like this for you guys.

HAUL 26: MAC, NAPOLEON PERDIS AND CLOTHES!

Hey everyone,
Today i have a haul for you guys, i went shopping with a couple of my friends and picked up a bit of makeup and clothing. I posted this haul on my YouTube a couple of days ago and here is my blog version.

MAC: Studio Sculpt Concealer in NC30.
You guys know how much i love this concealer. It covers EVERYTHING! NC30 is pushing it as i was previously purchasing NC20 but my actual colour is NC25. however, they don't make studio sculpt concealer in NC25. If that just made any sense. So i will see how NC30 goes but maybe i will transfer back to NC20.

MAC EyeShadows in "Forgery" and "Vanilla".
I dropped my "Forgery' shadow the other day and it smashed. I was kind of upset but it did give me a new MAC shadow to purchase. i recently i have found that no MAC shadows are jumping out at me anymore and if they do, then i already have them. Soit was nice to have to repurchase "Forgery" in some twisted way. I bought "vanilla" for sort of the same reason but i didn't drop it, i just think i am about to hit pan.

MAC MSF Natural in "Medium".
I walked into MAC thinking i would be a light but somehow i am a medium. I always thought that i was meganheartsmakeups skin tone on YouTube but it turns out that Medium is a little too light for me and a little too dark for her. But thatis crazy because i always thought we were the same skintone. I also, am not very tan whatsoever. But anywho..the point is that i needed a change from my regular Studio Fix so i though "MSF". It is gorgeous so far!

MAC Plush Lash mascara in "Plush Black".
This is my favourite mascara of all time. The consistancy is of a gel and the pimgnetation is incredibly dark black. The brush also is wide on two sides and skinny on another two sides. you sort of wind the brush along you lashes and flick it up at the end. This amazing technique leaved you with really beautiful and dark lashes.

MAC Dazzleglass in "Baby Sparks".
Of course i repurchased my favourite Dazzleglass!! Oh and MAC has pumped the prices up. I know it is not by much but it still adds up. it used to be $42 but now it is $48!! It is so weird but worth this gorgeous nude baby pink with multicoloured glitters in it.

MAC Brush Cleaner.
this is quite boring but hey my brushes have to be clean.

MAC Eye & Lip, Make-Up Remover.
I go through this stuff like toilet paper.

Jay Jays has brought out some super cute accessories!!
So i got a pair of yellow, green and pink butterfly earrings.
& a hot pink bow which is also a headband :)

Groove was having a sale which was buy 3 for $2.
I could not pass this sale up because how cheap is that?!?
Especially when the NYX lip pencils are usually $12 each.
So I grabbed myself;
*An NYX lip pencil in "Barbie Pink"
*A JAC Jumbo Eye Pencil in Pink Pearl.
* A JAC Fine Line in "Too Hot Pink".
* JAC palette
* JAC quad
* JAC mono shadow in "Shocking Pink"

I then went to Napoleon Perdis and spent my $50 gift card there.
I fell in love with 3 colours so i ended up buying one with my own money.
They were $25 each so the gift card covered the cost of 2 shadows.

CLOTHING
Valleygirl was selling out their old designs at crazy prices but nothing really stood out or if it did then i already had it. So i went to their new range which they just brough out. It cosists of florals and details.
This shirt is floral with a pearl detail around the neckline.

This top is a pink floral design with a beaded halter neck and buckle details.
I love the synching at the bottom=super cute!

this top is so pretty. The colour is a gorgeous blue and the ruffles are lined with black. it then buttons up just under you neck to expose a circle of your chest (haha not what you think).
Look at picture at end of post to see what i mean.

Tightrope always has gorgeous clothes for reasonable prices and this dress was no exception.
A beautiful purple and gre coloured design at the bust and a built-in belt. This dress reaches just above my knees and is very smell fitting. I have a feeling that i am not an XXS. I though i was getting an XS or S but i stand corrected.

The thing i love about this shirt is the fabric. it is almost like lycra it is so silky!
This top also came in pink and yellow but the pink didn't really agree with the yellow and overall the blue was more complimenting.

So i am getting ready for winter already which means cute cardigans and leggings.
I picked up this hooded cardigan with buttons and pockets in the colour black from Tightrope.
I love the fabric, it is so soft and the sleeves are so sily. The buttons feel really nice and the pockets are so cute. I am in love with this!!

So that was my haul...click the picture above to see my YouTube version.
(See what i mean about the button up at the neck and leaving the little circle on your chest. A very tastefull circle!)

CLOSE UP: LV LUGGAGE

Hi guys,
I was requested to do this by MacPrincess101, like 6 times and ages ago. But i kept postponing it and finding other things to blog about. But that wasn't fair on MacPrincess101 and i am so sorry because i know how much you wanted me to do this.
So where do i start...this was part of the problem. I didn't really know what to say other than "it's a bag and it holds my stuff" but i guess i can find some other things to say.
Maybe i will answer the frequestly asked questions i get about this bag.

1. Is it real? This is a big one! I have literally been asked this 20-25 times. Yes it is real.
2. How much was it? It retails between $2000 and $4000 depending where it is purchased.
3. Did you buy it yourself? No, i got it as a birthday present last year from my parents when i turned 13! Symbolic gift as i became a teenager that year.
4. What collection is it from? It is from the softside luggage collection and is very similar to a "Keepall 60".
5. How often do you use it? When i go on quick vacations or big day trips.
6. Is it used as a giant purse or how do you use it? I use it as a giant bag when lots of stuff is needed but mainly as luggage.

I have mentioned this LV bag in posts here and here.
Also in a YouTube video here.

Well guys...i think thats about all i can say. I have probably been asked more detailed questions but i think i covered the basics.

Love you guys,
JORDY

AWARD: GORGEOUS BLOGGER

Hey everyone,
I have been given another award and this one is from
MacPrincess101. It is a bit like the 7 question ones i have done previously so i will try and make these facts different.
1. I don't believe in having a best friend. Or at least i don't believe in telling everyone that i have a specific best friend. I think that if you feel you have to call a person your best friend then you are excluding your other friends and trying to convince yourself that this friend is better than your others.
2. I'm actually not afraid of much in regards to material things. Like spiders creep me out and so do haunted houses and such things but what i actually FEAR is being alone and not being accepted.
3. I make an effort to check where the products are made that i buy. When buying drugstore makeup i like to support the Australian economy and make sure that my money isnt all going overseas. I must have learnt this from my mum because she does them when buying groceries. I also make sure that i do not buy the majority of my stuff from China so there is not such a big demand on their products and therefore they run their workers less harshly.
4. When i was in grade 5 i went through this stage where i would enter every single competition that was run through magazines and i won 50% of them. Not even joking, it was the best time of my life and i won limited edition barbie dolls, CD's, electronics...I even won a nintendo one time.
5. I am not very outgoing when i am at school but i am not shy either. Although i am a cheerleader and stuff for my school, it doesn't automatically mean that i am "popular" or "outgoing". I like to interact with my whole grade and not limit myself to one specific group.
6. The majority of my money is spent on beauty. I have 3 jobs but everything adds up when you need you hair done, your nails painted, massages, gym and not to mention buying all the makeup and clothes.
7. I read every single comment i get on blogspot and read every single post by the people i follow. On YouTube: i check out every single one of my subscribers and friends, read every comment and watch every video from the people i am subscribed too. I spend heaps of time on the internet because of all the amazing peoplei have met and the good friends i now have form all over the world.

HOW TO FIND: YOUR PERFECT HAIR SPRAY!

Hey everyone,
NOTE: I am not a professional when it comes to deciding what is perfect for everyones hair but i work at a hairdressing salon and have picked up a few tricks and techniques so if you have any questions i would be more than happy to answer them.

Recently i FINALLY found my perfect hairspray and it has taken me so long. No wonder, considering there are so many options! If you think about it there are hundreds of brands; each with different holds, styles, purposes, names etc. It can get kind of confusing and you don't know what to look for which is what made me think of a reason to create a post about finding your perfect hair spray. Hair spray is probably the most popular hair care product on the market because it is advertised so that both female and male can use it. The point of hairspray is to stop your hair from loosing shape and coming out of place. When strating to look for a hair spray you have to determine what you want this product to assist your hair with.

PRODUCT CHARACTERISTICS
HOLD AND STRENGTH
Flexible Hold: You can move naturally and this product will keep the style but still move with your body. This can be used as an everyday spray to set your hair and is often called a "Setting Spray".
Strong or Extra Strength: This type of hold keep nearly all of your hair in place. Good for needs such as keeping curls springy and holding pin of straight hair. Perfect for an weather conditions your hairstyle might have to be exposed to.
Maximum, Ultra Strength or Freeze: The strongest you can get. Dries quickly and hold the most complicated of styles. However, there are some side effects with this one. Hard to wash out, tends to look stuck on your head, clumpy and crunchy.
OTHER
Scent: Hairspray can sometimes almost knock you out but that isnt the way it always has tobe. Unscented is avaliable and some even smeel quite nice. I guess scent is something personal that you will have to decipher for yourself.
Delivery: You can choose from short and strong burts or even and long sprays. It depends of what kind of hair you have. For long i would say even and long sprays and for short i would say short and strong bursts.
Protection: I have seen some that say UV protectant and others that say water resistant. There is protection for whatever occasion it's just all up to wether it works or if it is a load of crap.
Hair Type: Customed for your hir type wether it be frizz, straight, curl lock, brightening etc.
Feel: Well you don't want it to be stick or shiny and definatly not crunchy or crisp. That's fine for fast food but you don't want you hair acting as an over-cooked chip.

QUICK TIPS:
*Don't choose a hairspray with too high of strength and hold; unless it is an occasion where not even a strand of hair can ever move then you don't need to pick the highest hold factor of the brand's range.
*Stay away from hairspray that asks you to use the product closer than 30cm. Spraying something like a varnish so close to your hair is going to make it clumpy, sticky and in turn crunchy.
* Dont completley rely on what the bottle says it will protect you from. If it says UV protectant, dont take that as an excuse to sit in the sun but also, dont feel the need to smother your hair in sunscreen. You need a hat anyway unless you want a red scalp (which i have at the moment, i just came back from holiday).

JUST REMEMBER:
-If a hairspray bottle tells you something that seems like a nice idea but you don't necessarily need it. Don't change your lifestyle just so you can use that hairspray, a better one will come along.
- If your going shopping but it's raining so you don't want you hair to frizz, then you don't need hold factor 100. Use a simple direction spray so that your hair does not gunk up. You want a spray that you can use everday and not need to wash your hair after.

I hope you guys enjoy this post!

REVIEW: THE BODY SHOP, TEA TREE MASK

Hey everyone,
This was requested like 3 months ago, when i got it and i am so sorry Lorein for just getting around to it now.
QUALITY: The quality of this product is quite good. It is the consistancy of very thick cream. You can tell the products used in it are of a high quality and the Tea Tree Oil smells fresh.
FEEL: If you rub this into your skin hard enough then it will start to burn but if you are just very gentle when rubbing this in it feels calming and refreshing. You can feel it clearing your sinuses and smells fantastic.
PACKAGING: It is packed in a 110g pot. The lid is easily unscrewed and getting product out to use is no problem. The bottom has a flap that you can unpeal for more information and the packaging has everything you would ever need to know about it.
PURCHASING: I am not sure of any othe rplace that you can purchase this other than The Body Shop. Possibly online or on eBay (they seem to always have everything. The price for this mask is $18.95, for any of their other masks they are $28.95. I think that this one is cheaper because Tea Tree Oil is less expensive that honey, sea weed and all that jazz.
OVERVIEW: Overall, this is a great mask. There are better ones out there but this is a great one to try. You can feel the Tea Tree opening up your pores and it smells amazing but it burns sometimes and it doesnt have much effect on your actual skin's problem areas after use.

CONCLUSION: I reccomend this if you love your face feel fresh and tingly but if you dont need much help clearing up your skin.

QUICK REVIEW: FOA ILLUMINATOR

Hey everyone,
So today i am going to be reviewing Face Of Australia, illuminator stick in "Bronze". So this works like a NARS multiple and they are basically the same thing. Since i choose mine in the colour bronze, it can be used as an all-over-face bronzer, eyeshadow base and contour. However, i only like using it as a contour because it feels sticky on the eyes and feels heavy all over the face.
PROS:
* An affordable option for NARS Multiple lovers.
* A multi-purpose product.
* A variety and great colour selection.
* Slim, sleek and easy packaging.
* A very cute item to whip out.
* Just the right amount of glitter.
* Amazing formula and consistancy (super creamy).
* Super easy to use.
* No mess.
CONS:
* Oily and greasy.
* Makes skin feel dirt when used all over.
* Sticky when used as an eyeshadow base.
* It's kind of hard to put the lid back on without jabbing it into the product therefore leaving, less than attractive, marks.
* Only avaliable in Australia (i think, well i got that from the name and the lack of hype, interest and pictures on google images)
* Not very pigmented. But maybe this is a pro, it would usually be seen as bad but i kind of like it because you can just keep adding layers to build intensity. Great if you are light skinner and don't need a dark bronzer.

To conclude, this product is great for being the same concept as a NARS Multiple and is super cute, easy and versatile. However, it is not a very global product, it's not the best if you don't like the feel of heavy, oily or greasy makeup on your face and you tend to ruin your product when jabbing it with the lid.
I give this product a: 3 out of 5

TAG & QUICK REVIEW

Hey everyone,

I was tagged by the beautiful Swtest2Lips so stop by her blog and check her out! This tag has given me the opportunity to give you guys a mini review.
The rules of the Tag:
1. Open your 1st Photo folder.
2. Scroll to the 10th photo.
3. Post the photo and the story behind it.
4. Tag 5 or more people.
The picture i ended up getting was actually a picture of a Revlon Kabuki. I thought i would do a quick, easy and simple review on it.
*Revlon being a drugstore brand makes it quite affordable.
*The hairs shed a very minimal amount.
*Easy grid and holding position.
*Buff's makeup in amazingly.
*Helps your neck match your face.
*Gives your makeup a glowy look when dipped in a MSF or light glittery powder.
*Best used as a pressed powder brush.
QUICK TIP: Ensure that you do not press to hard otherwise you will get baby hairs stuck in your makeup. Try swishing the brush on a paper towel before use to rid the brush of an excess hairs.
Overall, this Revlon kabuki is of amazing quality and great economically. You can work around the shedding of hair as it is minimal and you wouldnt want to pass up an amazing brush that makes your skin look so glowy and flawless.

So that was a prety unexpected review but i hope you guys enjoy.

THANK YOU'S AND SHOUTOUTS

Hey everyone,

So i am #12 - Most Subscribed (This Week) - Australia. I was #14 this morning but i came up to #12 later today. I just wanted to say thank you guys so much. I started less than a week ago and now this has already happened. That is just so amazing to me considering how many australian youtubers there are out there. So a massive thank you and i could not have done it without some very special followers of my blog deciding to follow my YouTube as well.

I would really love to acknowledge them by giving them shoutouts.
